Cuando nos dicen “trabajo” pensamos en un horario fijo y en una oficina, al menos en la mayoría de los casos. ¿Qué pasa cuando nuestro lugar de trabajo es, literalmente, el mundo? Hablamos con Nichu, nuestro querido compañero, quien hace casi un año se encuentra de travesía por Europa. Y sí, seguramente te preguntes, ¿Cómo logra trabajar sin tener un lugar fijo? La respuesta, para nosotros y para él, es bastante simple: una computadora, organización, pasión y, sobre todo, confianza.

¿Cómo surgió el desafío/oportunidad de trabajar a distancia, en otro país?
– Para venirme a trabajar desde España sucedieron en mi vida personal varias cosas que me animaron a emprender el viaje. Una vez tomada la decisión, empecé a realizar pequeñas acciones para ver si era posible, por suerte recibí apoyo de varios lados para poder realizarlo. Uno de esos grandes apoyos fue de CavePot, quienes desde un principio me dieron el “OK” para poder planificarlo y realizarlo.
¿Qué es lo más complicado de estar en otro país? Tanto a nivel personal como profesional.
Lo más complicado son los momentos en los cuales uno necesita ayuda/apoyo de una persona de confianza. Esa ayuda/apoyo puede ser de todo tipo, como por ejemplo una compañía para momentos malos, una ayuda económica para realizar algo, “un favor” de esos que te sirven para hacer algo más tranquilo/rápido. Esos apoyos, estando lejos es mas difícil encontrarlos, pero están.Son vínculos que hay que ir creando.
¿Qué es lo que más disfrutás de vivir y trabajar en otro país?
Lo que mas se disfruta son los viajecitos, al ser Madrid mi base, es donde estoy la mayoría del tiempo, una ciudad muy grande, con tantos destinos no solo me significa oportunidades infinitas para estar siempre visitando un lugar nuevo, sino qu tambien es una ciudad muy rica en si misma.
El día a día se disfruta mucho ya que cada cosa de la vida cotidiana tiene “un algo” diferente que es llamativo (para bien y para mal).
También voy descubriendo una ciudad que siempre tiene actividades para hacer de los mas variadas y para todos los gustos.
¿Qué considerás es clave para hacer tu trabajo desde cualquier lugar?
Primero que nada las clásicas: Buena conexión a internet, buena comunicación y confianza con los integrantes del equipo, entendimiento del proyecto en el que estoy y del cliente.
También destacaría tener un lugar cómodo para trabajar: En la vida nómada pareciera estar copado trabajar siempre de diferentes lugares pero la realidad es que por varios motivos termina siendo cansador y desgastante. Creo que lo mejor es hacer un mix teniendo un lugar fijo y al mismo tiempo poder ir recorriendo lugares para conocer y trabajar al mismo tiempo.
Tener los tiempos bien organizados y al mismo tiempo saber cuándo hay que estar al 100% concentrado para tener un buen desempeño. Recorriendo diferentes lugares es clave tener claro los tiempos en los cuales vas a tener condiciones óptimas para hacer tu trabajo ya que muchas veces terminarás trabajando en lugares concurridos, lo que dificulta la concentración. Es por esto que es bueno tenerlo claro para organizarse, tener en cuenta la diferencia horaria, tomar decisiones y transmitirlo al equipo.
¿Cómo los valores/ filosofía de Cavepot facilita o ayuda a que hagas tu trabajo estando tan lejos?
Creo que uno de los puntos mencionados antes, la comunicación y principalmente la confianza que nos tenemos. Otro punto a destacar es la relación que en la mayoría de los casos termina siendo una relación de amistad más que un vínculo laboral. Estos son los 3 puntos clave.
¿Qué es lo que más te motiva en el día a día?
Confiar en que estoy “construyendo”/”dando los pasos” para que a futuro, a corto y largo plazo van a resultar en pequeños/grandes logros para llegar a realizarme como persona y como profesional.
Si algo nos deja de enseñanza esta experiencia es que la confianza en lo que uno hace, cómo lo hace y el apoyo de una compañía para lograrlo, son la clave para una experiencia exitosa.

Whenever we think about “working ,” we usually think of an office, a tight schedule, or at least in most cases, right?
What happens when our workplace is literally the world? We talked to Nichu, our dear colleague, who has been traveling through Europe for almost a year. And yes, you might wonder, how does he manage to work without a specific location? The answer, for us and for him, is quite simple: a computer, confidence and a lot of passion.

How did the challenge/opportunity to work remotely in another country come up?
– Several coincidences in my personal life motivated me to decide to come and work from Spain. Once the decision was made, I started taking small actions to see if it was possible, and luckily I received support from family and friends make it happen. One of those great supports was from CavePot, who from the beginning gave me the “OK” to plan and execute my plan.
What is the most challenging aspect of being in another country? Both personally and professionally.
The most challenging aspect is when one needs help/support from a friend or a relative who is not physically here. That help/support can be of all kinds, such as company during difficult times, financial assistance to accomplish something, or “a favor” that helps make something easier/faster. Finding that kind of support is more difficult when you’re far away, but they do exist.
What do you enjoy most about living and working in another country?
The most enjoyable thing is exploring new places. Being in Madrid most of the time, a city with so many nearby destinations, gives infinite possibilities to always be visiting a new place. Specifically, by basing myself in Madrid, I have the opportunity to explore the same routes on foot, by bike, by car, by public transportation, and there’s always a different perspective on the journey. The day-to-day life is very enjoyable because every aspect of daily life has something different and intriguing (for better or for worse). I’m also discovering a city that always has a wide range of activities to suit all tastes.
What do you consider a key factor to do your work from anywhere?
First and foremost, the basics: a good internet connection, good communication, and trust with team members. I would also emphasize having a comfortable workspace. In the nomadic life, it may seem exciting to work from different places all the time, but the reality is that it can be tiring and draining for various reasons. I believe the best approach is to have a mix of having a fixed place while also being able to explore and work in different locations. Having well-organized schedules and knowing when to be 100% focused for optimal performance is crucial when traveling to different places. It’s important to be clear about the times when you’ll have the best conditions for your work since often you end up working in crowded places where it’s difficult to find enough concentration. That’s why it’s good to have clarity, so you can organize, make decisions, and communicate it to the team.
How do CavePot’s values/philosophy facilitate or support your work from afar?
I think one of the points mentioned earlier is communication, and mainly the trust we have in each other. Another point to highlight is that in most aspects, it becomes more of a friendship than just a work relationship. I believe these three points are crucial.
What motivates you most on a daily basis?
Having confidence that I am taking the necessary steps that will result in small/big achievements in the future, both in the short and long term. These achievements will allow me to make different decisions and achieve personal and professional fulfillment.
If there’s one thing this experience teaches us, it’s that confidence in what you do is key, and the support of a company to achieve it is also crucial.
